Re: Ramiro “Ramsey” Muñiz - 40288-115

Your Holiness:

I write for your prayers and assistance to help free Ramiro “Ramsey” Muñiz, an American who has been unjustly incarcerated for 21 years.  At 71 years of age, he is serving a sentence of life without parole in the United States and he suffers greatly . For many years we have struggled to obtain justice in his case and we pray for his freedom.

Ramsey Muñiz made a political impact and positive contribution to humanity at the age of 30, having run for governor of Texas. He helped to gain a political voice for Mexican Americans, Hispanics, Latinos, Chicanos, and many others. It is historically written that this political change came about during the Civil Rights Movement; he encountered problems in his life as a result.

Recently Ramsey Muñiz submitted an application for early release under the Compassionate Release Program. We have asked President Barack Obama to free Ramey Muñiz in the same ways that he seeks human rights for people throughout the world.

Leaders need reminders about the need to preserve human rights in their own countries. Because you represent the spiritual conscience of the world, we ask that you remind President Barack Obama about the need to free Ramsey Muñiz and others who are unjustly incarcerated in the United States.

Thank you for demonstrating faith, love, and compassion for others. Your spiritual influence has been a gift to humanity. We thank God for your guidance, and we ask that His blessings and protection always remain with you.

                                                            In spiritual unity,

Your Holiness:

I pray that upon receipt of this letter, you maintain the spiritual blessings of health and the love of God. My name is Ramiro “Ramsey” Muñiz, and I am from Corpus Christi, Texas. My family has written to you, and I am also writing to ask for your blessing and assistance.

I have been unjustly incarcerated for 21 years. Attorneys have legal documents pertaining to my unconstitutional trial, conviction, and sentence of life without parole. My struggle for freedom and justice has been long and hard and it has had a great effect on me and a loving family that I am blessed to have. We have remained spiritually united after 21 years, pursuing freedom and justice.

My unjust incarceration is due to the political impact that I made at the age of 30, having run for governor of Texas. I helped to gain a political voice for Mexican Americans, Hispanics, Latinos, Chicanos, and many others. Historically it is written that this came about during the Civil Rights Movement. Many of us here in the United States know in our hearts and souls that I am unjustly incarcerated because I am a political prisoner.

When previously held in solitary confinement, I was in chains, shackles, naked, and cold. Preparing to succumb to the end of my life, my beloved brother, Jesus Christ, came into the darkness and told me to rise and become the man that God destined for me to be, demonstrating freedom, justice and love for all humanity. I maintain His enlightenment to this day. Through the blessings of God and the love of Christ, I have been spiritually blessed like no other.

My beloved brother, Jesus Christ, shared that at times we must give up the essence of pleasure and comfort in return for a life of suffering, hardship, misery, and even imprisonment for the deep spiritual love of freedom and justice for humanity. I believe this to be true.

The late Dr. Salvador Alvarez, my loving father-in-law, has stated, "Ramsey, my son, it is evident, and soon history will reveal to present and past generations, your contributions and sacrifices in the political, cultural, and spiritual struggle for truth and justice, to the extent that you sacrificed your freedom, personal interests, family, and happiness." He speaks to me daily.

I am a Catholic and I have great belief in God, Jesus Christ, and La Virgen de Guadalupe. Catholic priests and nuns have advocated and prayed that justice will prevail in my case. United States congressmen and national organizations have supported me, and I know that one day God will grant my freedom.

I am 71 years old and confined to a wheelchair. Because of my age and medical condition I am eligible to be released under the Compassionate Release Program initiated by President Barack Obama. I have submitted an application and I ask for your prayers and influence, knowing that you represent the spiritual conscience of the world. Please ask President Obama to consider my case, as he has stated, “And as we pray for all prisoners of conscience, whatever their faiths, wherever they’re held, let’s imagine what it must be like for them.”

Thank you for stating that Catholics should become involved in politics, as I have learned that this is a spiritual mission. I ask that your prayers will obtain my freedom and the freedom of my family.  I will always offer prayers for you, knowing that you are a spiritual gift from God to all humanity.

In spiritual unity with you and God’s family,

                                                            Ramiro R. Muñiz
